Everest Base Camp trek at an elevation of about 5340m, one of the most popular mountain trail trek leads us its proximity to the world’s highest mountain (8848m), Himalayan lifestyle and culture of Sherpa people, their villages and monasteries. It also gives a dramatic view of Mt. Everest from Kala Patthar (5545m). An Everest trek involves a tremendous amount of up and down walking, Himalayan Glaciers and Sagarmatha National Park. It is also in close proximity to four of the world's six tallest peak Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu and Mt. Cho-Oyu.

To get started the trek, either walk for a week or fly to Lukla (Tenzing-Hillary airport) and ends with a return flight to Kathmandu from Lukla.

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International airport, Kathmandu our company representative will be displaying a hoarding board written as “All Nepal Trekking P. Ltd” outside the airport terminal for receiving you and you will be then transferred to your respective hotel by our private vehicle.

Kathmandu sightseeing

After breakfast, our tour guide will take you to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Pashupatinath Temple is regarded as one of the holiest sites for Hindus all over the world and dedicated to Shiva.

Boudhanath Stupa is located 5 km east of Kathmandu city center, one of the largest stupas in the world and one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage which stands three-tiered platform raised over the crossed rectangles.

Swayambhunath Stupa is located in the heart of the city and a little hillock lies about 4 km west of Kathmandu city center. Swayambhunath is also called Monkey Temple by the tourists owing to the large number of monkeys in the temple area.

Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding (2,652m) 3-4 hrs.

After breakfast, we take the flight to Lulka (2800m) about 45 minutes, a gateway destination from where our trek begins. Upon arrival at Lukla, our trekking crew meets you and after some packing and arrangements, we head north, pass a small settlement called Chopling after 1½ hrs. & cross a tributary with a beautiful peak towards its head. We reach Phakding after 3 hours walk from Lukla. This is very easy & short day but very important for those trekkers flying in the Khumbu region.

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3446 m) 5-6 hrs.

We cross to the west bank of Dudh Koshi River & continue through blue pine & rhododendron forest to the village of Benkar (2905m) which is reached in an hour from Phakding. In a short while, cross to the east bank & climb up though Chumo. This place is noted for extensive vegetable farms. Cross another tributary, Kyashar Khol, before climbing up a cleft in the canon wall to Monjo (2835m) about 45 minutes from Benkar. The trail descends in a cleft to the left of huge rock & crosses to the west bank of Dudh Koshi on a large suspension bridge to reach Jorsale (2850m), entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, in 45 minutes. Continue through blue pine forest to reach at the confluence of Bhote Koshi form the west & Dudh Koshi from the east. The west fork is crossed & the climb to Namche Bazar begins. Some 150m up the crest of the prow, Mt. Everest can be seen behind Lhotese-Nuptse ridge. Namceh Bazar is reached in 3 hours from Jorsale.

Acclimatization Day - Namche Bazaar (3,446m) or Khumjung (3780m)

Today is the scheduled 'acclimatization' day at Namch Bazaar or Khumjung- takes the trail that climbs past the Gomba & reach a Stoll strip called Syangboche (3720m) in an hour. Climb northeast from the airstrip past a large Chorten in a blue pine forest. Descend past Himalay Turst School to reach Khumjung. A villace Gomba in Juniper groove to the north contains Yeti relics that can be seen for a donation. Mt. Ama Dablam tower to the sky & seems within stone’s throw from Khumjung.

Trek to Machermo (4465 m) 6-7 hrs.

The trail goes northeast of the stupa at the east end of Khumjung & climbs along the side of Khumbiyula crossing a rocky prominence to a crest of a ridge (3992m) where there’s a stupa. It takes 2 hours to reach there from Khumjung. The trail descends steeply to near river (3643m), the left fork at the junction & head north. After an hour or so from the junction, Cho Oyu is visible at the head of the valley. After emerging from the woods, walk past several summer Yak herding huts reach Gyele & Dole (4048m). From Dole, reaches Lhabarma (4328m) in less than an hour & Luza (4390m) in another hour & overnight at Machermo in another 45 minutes.

Trek to Gokyo (4791m) 6-7 hrs.

Climbing the mountain side form Machermo to the trip of the ridge, view encompassing Cho Oyu (8153m) & the mountains surrounding Ngozumba glacier opens before us. To the right, Cholatse (6440m) & Tawoche (6542m), descend the gentle slope for an hour to reach Pangar. From Pangar, descend slightly following one of the melted glacial rivers that follow down the west side of Ngozumpa glacier which lies to the east of the trail. The trail crosses this river at a narrowing emerges at the first of several lakes (4709m), 1½ hours beyond Pangar. Another 45 minutes brings us to the next lake, Taocha Lake. Continue for another half hour to reach third lake called Dudh Pokhari & Gokyo on its east shore. Cho Oyu looms to the north from Gokyo.

Gokyo (climb Gokyo Peak, 5360m) 5-6 hrs.

To climb Gokyo Peak, head towards northern edge of Dudh Pokharai, cross the zone of ablation & begin to ascend the mountain side. The contrast below of the rough, desolate glacier & emerald lake is beautiful sight. As we ascend to the higher level, the world’s highest viz. Everest, Lhotse & Makalu appear. Cross the rocky area visible at the summit & when cross it, arrive at the Gokyo Peak. The view from the summit equals to that from Kala Patthar & a 360 panorama open before us. Ascend from Gokyo to Gokyo Peak takes about 3 hours. Retrace steps to Gokyo.

Trek to Phortse (3840m) 7 hrs.

After retrace our steps a little beyond Pangar & cross to the east side of the river issuing from Ngozumpa glacier & cross the tributaries. It is very easy walk on the level path & descends and again level path continues up to Thore (4390m). Descend through Konar (4050m) & reach Phortse after about 7 hours.

Trek to Pheriche (4252m) 6 hrs.

We cross across the hill to Imja Khola side. The trail leads to Debuche (3757m). The trail ascends gradually through the forest of Rhododendron all the while. Continue to the river, Imja Khola, & cross it at a narrowing on suspension bridge (3780m) from which gets a spectacular view of Ama Dablam. Cross the river to the north bank & after some ten minutes beyond, the trail forks, left fork leading to Pangboche Gumba & right fork to Pangboche village in some 3 hours form Phortse. Continue up gradually northeast from the village & reach a trail fork after 1½ hours from Pangboche. The right one goes towards Dingboche (4343m) while the left one, slightly less prominent, climbs to the crest of small ridge (4282m) from which Pheriche can be seen. Descend a short distance to the bridge over Khumbu Khola & cross to the west bank to Pheriche 3 hours from Pangboche.

Trek to Lobuche (4930m) 5-6 hrs.

Continue north along the flats past Yarsa (summer Yak herding hut) of Phuling Karpo, then turn northeast up a grassy lateral moraine of Khumbu glacier. Cross its crest, descend to cross a glacial stream emerging from the snout of the glacier which is covered by the moraine (4579m) & ascend to the huts of Tugla (4593m) in 2 hours from Pheriche. Climb to the pass to the right, the trail then contours on the other side of glacier after crossing another stream of melted water. The trail climbs up gradually to northeast to Lobuche situated below terminal moraine of tributary glacier, it takes about 2 hours to reach Lobuche from Tugla.

Trek to Gorak Shep (5184m) 3 hrs. & visit Kala Patthar (5545m) 2 hrs.

The trail follows through beside the Khumbu glacier, and then climbs through the terminal moraine of another tributary glacier. From a high point here, the rubble-covered hill of Kala Patthar, in front of Pumori (7145m), can be seen. At the base of Kala Patthar, there is a lake that is often frozen in the winter. Descend to the sand & contour the lake on its northeast shore, Gorak Shep is reached in 3 hours from Lobuche. The cairn of upper Kala Patthar to the north of the rounded hill can be reached in 2 hours maximum form Gorak Shep by ascending directly & keeping slightly to the northwest. From Kala Patthar it can be seen south Col of Everest as well as immense west & south faces. This is certainly one of the most majestic view points in the world. Retrace the steps to Gorak Shep.

Gorak Shep (5184m)- visit Everest Base Camp (5340m) 2 hrs.

The sites of various base camps used for climbing Everest are close to the foot of Khumbu icefall (5357m) and can be reached in few hours from Gorak Shep by venturing over rubble-covered surface of the Khumbu glacier. Visit Everest Base Camp & retrace steps to Gorak Shep.

Trek to Dingbuche (4343m) 7 hrs.

We retrace our steps & pass Lobuche. From Lubuche, taking a short cut crossing the stream emanating from the snout of the Khumbu glacier & climbing up the lateral moraine, then follow a trail that contours to the south passing the small temporary village of Dusa before dropping down to Dingbuche.

Dingbuche- visit Chuukung 2 hrs.

Head east from Dingbuche to reach Bibre (4571m) in 1½ hours, the trail continues east crossing numerous streams that issue from the Nuptse & Lhotse glaciers to a number of Yak herding huts at Chhukung, 1½ hours after Bibre, back to Dingboche same way.

Trek to Tyangboche (3867m) 6-7 hrs.

The trail descends gradually & after 30 minutes or so, near Mani wall from where a left fork leads to Pheriche. Continue heading southwest from Debuche (3757m) there trail ascends gradually to reach Tyangboche.

Trek to Manjoo (2800m) 7 hrs.

We follow the same route as we have previously taken.
