Mera Peak Climbing

Mera Peak Climbing

Situates in the Everest region to the east of the main Khumbu trekking trails, Mera Peak stands at 6654 m. The trail follows the original Everest expedition route from the roadhead at Jiri, crossing the high ridges and spectacular deep river gorges of the Sherpa homeland of Everest region before entering the less-frequented wilderness of the Hindu valley. J.O.M. Roberts and Sin Tenzing made the first successful ascent of Mera Peak on 20 may 1953. From the summit of Mera peak the view is beautiful and visible the peaks of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga and Cho Oyo. Under favorable conditions, it is possible to climb the peak and descend back on the same day.

14-18:

Our return journey takes us from the Mera La Base Camp to Lukla via the remote Hongu Valley to complete a true circuit and a fitting end to your Mera Peak expedition. We quickly descend back to the relatively ‘thick air’ and warm temperatures of the valley.  Although we cover a relatively long distance (about 12-15 Km) the going is pleasantly smooth due to the constant descent and more oxygen.
