EXPEDITION IN NEPAL |

|
Nepal is best
known for its
mountains and
mountaineering
expedition in
the world.
Nowhere else on
the earth you
can find such
concentration of
high snow-capped
mountains and
have the
opportunity to
climb some of
the highest
peaks in the
world.
Besides Mt.
Everest (8,848m), the highest
peak in the
world, Nepal is
also home to
other seven
peaks over 8,000m
and innumerable
others between
six and eight
thousand meters.
At the moment
some 236 peaks
are available in
Nepal for
expeditions with
an additional 18
minor peaks
which are
designated as
“Trekking
Peaks”.
Rules and
Regulations for
Expedition
Peaks:
An expedition
team wishing to
attempt any of
the scheduled
peaks need to
apply to the
Ministry of
Culture, Tourism
and Civil
Aviation at least 2 months
in advance
through a
government
registered
Trekking
Company. Various
financial and
environmental
guarantees must
be fulfilled and
a permit is then
issued upon
payment of the
appropriate
royalty.
For all
expedition peaks
above 6500meters
elevation, the
government
appoints liaison
officer to
accompany the
team up to base
camp for the
entire period of
expedition.
For those peaks
lesser than 6500meter elevation
do not require a
liaison officer.
The primary duty
of the liaison
officer is to
ensure that the
mountaineering
rules and
regulations are
adhered to.
Climbing Permit
processing:
The following
documents have
to be sent to
the
Ministry of
Culture, Tourism
and Civil
Aviation, Mountaineering
Division, Kathmandu,
Nepal.
- Complete
Application
(Schedule-1 of
Regulations)
- Endorsement of
the National
Alpine Club. (If
there is no
Alpine Club,
endorsement of
the respective government)
- Short bio-data
of all members
of the
expedition (with
photograph)
- Map and/ or
photograph of
the mountain
indicating
climbing route.
- Approach route
map.
Payment Policy
of Climbing
Permit:
- The leader of
the expedition
team is required
to compulsorily
pay the full
amount of
climbing permit
fee (Royalty)
within TWO
MONTHS of the
date of getting
the permission.
In case of
failure to make
payment of
royalty within
two months, such
permission may
be cancelled.
- The climbing
permit fee
(Royalty) must
be paid directly
to All Nepal
Trekking,
Kathmandu, Nepal
either by bank
draft or bank
transfer A/C NO.
58173-13 to
Nepal Bank
Limited, New
Road,
Kathmandu
(Nepal) payable
in convertible
foreign
currency.
Communication
Equipment:
- As
walkie-talkies,
trans-receiver
(wireless) sets
and other
communication
equipment are
controlled
articles at the
customs office
(at entry point)
that you wish to
bring those
items into Nepal
for use during
the climbing
period, such
equipments have
to be collected
from the customs
office by
obtaining
permission
letter from the
Ministry of
Communication.
For the
clearance of the
equipment, a
completed
application form
and invoice with
catalog or
specification
(four copies
each) should be
submitted to the
Ministry of
Tourism which
are later to be
sent to other
concerned
government
offices.

Mt. Cho Oyu Expedition (8201 m)
From Tibet Side:
Cho
Oyu, the world’s sixth highest mountain
lies on the Nepal-Tibet border. The
north west face, now considered the
normal route, is fairly straight
forward, requiring only a couple of
hundred meters fixed rope. The success
rate on Cho Oyu is higher than any other
8000 m peak. This expedition requires 3
Camps, including

Mt. Manaslu Expedition (8163 m):
Mt.
Manaslu , the world’s eight highest
mountain, lies in the central region of
Nepal. Japanese were the first climbers
to scale Manaslu mountain in 1956.
Hence, it is still popularly recognized
as Japanese Peak in Nepal. Despite of
having many routes to climb Manaslu
mountain, the south face is considered
to be the most difficult.

Mt. Kanchenjunga Expedition
(8,586 m):
Mt.
Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest
mountain, lies on the Nepal India (Sikkim)
border. Kanchenjunga has 5 Peaks of
which the true summit is 8,586 m in
elevation. In our expedition package
program, we offer trekking trip up to
Kanchenjunga base Camp and thereafter
expedition through south face route.
