Chulu West Peak Climbing |
|
 |
|
Of the two
Chulus (East and
West) Chulu West
is the higher
Peak. The first
ascent to Chulu
west was made by
a Japanese
Expedition team
in 1952. It lies
in a small
valley north of
Manang; off the
main trail to
the Thorung La.
Clulu East was
climbed by a
German
Expedition team
in 1955 via the
North East
Ridge. Thus, it
is difficult to
differentiate
between the two
Chulus. However,
both the peaks
are not
technically
difficult to
climb but the
pace of walk can
be slow as the
slopes are
vulnerable to
avalanches in
certain areas.
